A letter From the President

Much like the welcome statement on the homepage, I found myself always in need of a haircut, but inconvenienced for time. Many people enjoy the conversational talk and humor of the barbershop, but I would want to get in, get out, and be on with my day. As a college student, it was all too easy and convenient to get a cheap haircut from someone on campus in the wee hours of the night or if in a bind, stop at the barbershop by campus. Being that I was a fulltime student, I took for granted the breaks in my day that allowed me to get away and not be burdened by a wait in the barbershop.

As a graduate and introduced to the real world, my value on time went up. An engineer by day in a town not known for its booming population or thriving social life, I hadn’t found myself a reputable barber or indeed the time to get there. I lived about 30 to 40 min in between the slow paced town of my job and the hustle and bustle of city life where I once went to school. I would get to work before the shops opened and often get home just before they were about to close. If I did make it home at a decent hour, I was once again faced with the task of driving across town in the new city where I lived or back to the old city where I went to school. Nonetheless, I was in for a wait and a drive that I was not looking forward too. If I was lucky, I could be out in an hour or so. If it was tragic, watch the news, get a nap, read two magazines, and try not to get upset at the curiously long misuse of my time. On rare occasions, I could catch up with a friend of mine who cut on the side. He was extremely talented, but you were victim to his schedule and it was a mystery trying to figure that out. You might call on Monday hoping for a cut by Tuesday to find out he wasn’t cutting until Saturday. It was frustrating to say the least.

Thus, was spawned the inspiration for Barbers Express in the summer of 2006. As President and CEO of Barbers Express LLC, I promise to bring you the best product I can. It’s taken several months of planning and dedication to get the ball rolling into the product you see today, but I had to have a quality product that was convenient, efficient, and customer friendly for both the barber and the customer. Under my leadership, I’m committed to seeing Barbers Express flourish into something that barbers and customers alike enjoy for its usefulness and convenience day in and day out.

Thank you and enjoy,

Der’Ivan Kelly President, CEO
